Arbor Day ("Tree Planting Day") in Korea

Well, today is a holiday!!! Many years ago, just after the Korean war, Korea was stripped of many of her trees during the intensive bombing of the war. Hence the need for "Arbor Day" at that time and the hope that normal citiizens planting trees once a year would "take root". Well, there are plenty of trees now but the holiday remains! (Even though no one I ever talk to actually plants a tree each year! But hey, I'm not about to complain about having a holiday, ha!ha!)
