The Doctrine of Christ - Incarnation

"And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)
The term incarnation refers here to the miracle of God the Son becoming human, yet remaining God. John summarizes this miracle with the expression "the Word was made flesh". The term Word is a title of deity used by John to describe Jesus. The term flesh speaks of Christ's humanity.
Illustration: To deny either the deity or humanity of Christ is to deny the very nature of the God-man.
Application: Even in New Testament times there were people with the spirit of antichrist who denied truths concerning the Lord (1 John 2:18). The Christian response to such individuals is complete separation (2 John 7-11).
