Hah, hah. You University lectures sometimes forget you have a sweet deal :-) Praise God for those hours :-) A few weeks ago I was working 33 teaching hours a week and travelling to 3 different places (2 companies and 1 academy). Getting up at 6am starting my first class at 7am, having class at lunch at LG and then classes in the afternoon/ evening. Only finished my last class with a Samsung manager at 9:30. Add preparation (particularly for the adult classes)on top of that and only 10 days vacation a year and then you have a full schedule :-)Just thought I would remind you how lucky you are :-) Have a great day!!!
Hi, Jacqui! Good to hear from you.
Yes, there are more hours involved in teaching at language iinstitutions but the prep time is much shorter. There are also a lot more meetings, marking, record-keeping, and such at the university level which is not officially clocked-in as part of the working hours.
Vacation time definitely is better. That is why I recommend any ESL teacher, interested in teaching long-term, to get an MA in Applied Linguistics or another ESL/EFL field.
By the way, here's my quote of the day: "I'd rather be blessed than lucky!" :-)
