Disturbing things from the "Chun Hyang Song" production:

"May the energies of Creativity fill you all with inspiration for a successful play now and in the future, as it did so long ago in 1965. I also include deep gratitude and congratulations to Handong Global University. In their support of this production, they demonstrate their passionate commitment to art works of high purpose.
The story itself is a tribute to the nobility of traditional Korean culture. High expectations are found in the hearts of Korean mothers and grandmothers-all parents in fact. Therefore they love to tell their children Confucian stories like that of Chun Hyang. She is an icon of the highest faithfulness exhibited by a wife toward her husband.
The whole earth community benefits when women are discovered and praised for their heroism. The special caringness of Mother Earth is part of women's particular gift to the human race, and a strong spirit like Chun Hyang's is the best promise we humans have that our environment can be honored ans saved for the survival of us all.
Could inspiration empower us for as long as a hundred years? Of course. That's only a touch of love. Much more is possible, and even inevitable.
Spring Song for Dano:
"Why do spirits of rivers and hills so possess me today? Why only once, only once in the year, Do I find myself feeling this way?"
The most disturbing part of the play was when the fortune teller came out to tell the heroine of the story her future and said, "Our tragedies in life are sins from previous lives which must be atoned for." The sad thing is that this play, which even praised "the benevolent Buddha", was performed in Hyoam Main Chapel, on the very stage where our Lord Jesus Christ is praised every Sunday morning....
"Be careful to do everything I have said to you. Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips." (Exodus 23:13)
"The sorrows of those will increase who run after other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood or take up their names on my lips." (Psalm 16:4)
