The U.A.E. Declares War on Andy Brown!
"Spiritual War", that is!
I was quite bothered when I received this message from a friend living in The UAE (The United Arab Emirates):
I found your website BUT UNFORTUNATELY - and it made me upset already a couples of times - ALL the pictures are blocked! At least I was able to open the site, so many are not to open, but it's quite irritating not to be able to see the pictures. You see only a nasty anouncement : "SITE BLOCKED. We apologize the site you are attempting to visit has been blocked due to its content being inconsistent with the religious, cultural, political and moral values of the United Arab Emirates. "I'm sorry for that!
What a shocker! Anyone who has read my blog knows that it is neither dangerous nor evil. What made me most upset is that many people say that the UAE is one of the more liberal, "open-minded" Arab countries. Yes, and if they are blocking websites there which they don't happen to agree with, what do you think happens in the more hard-line Islamic countries?! I must agree with their message though; My blog certainly is inconsistent with their religious, cultural, political and so-called moral values. How do you dialogue with a people/nation who does not even listen to others and will not allow their citizens to have access?! We are not talking about pornographic, damaging material but truth unedited. Make no mistake about it - It is the name and message of Jesus Christ that they find dangerous.
On further contemplation, I should be flattered that they have blocked my site. (Although it's sad to think about UAE citizens who are limited in what they have access to...)
This should be of no surprise to any Bible believing Christian as it is exactly what God has promised/warned for those who put their trust in Christ:
"Their venom is like the venom of a snake, like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears, that will not heed the tune of the charmer, however skillful the enchanter may be." (Psalm 58:4-5)
"Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth-men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone." (2 Timothy 3:8-9)
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the words I spoke to you: "No servant is greater than his master." If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me." (John 15:18-21)
