"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, FAITHFUL IN PRAYER." (Romans 12:12)

Prayers for my dear student, JiSeon (Heidi), in the US as she volunteers for Hurricane Relief work Mar. 6-11th

One student has come up a lot in the last week. Ji-Seon (whose English name is "Heidi") was partly responsible for an Afghan exchange student coming to Handong who was over tonight with the other Afghan guys and Ezra (my favorite Cambodian!) for pizza. She is at Cedarville University this semester as an exchange student with 5 other Handong Global University students. Apparently, they are making quite an impression on people over there! The OIA (Office of International Affairs) sent us this link to an article and photo of them. (Ji-Seon is the 2nd from the left in the photo on the top right corner of the 1st page:

I emailed her and this was her response:
Hi Andy,
Thank you so much for your kind email. You are so sweet:) How was your trip? I hope you had a great time! I am doing really good, and I was chosen as a volunteer for hurricane relief team. My team is going to go Gretna in Louisiana during this coming spring break. We will leave school on March 6th and be back March 11th. I am looking forward to going there. Yes, our picture was at the first page of the newspaper of this university. Did the office of international affairs of Handong send link to CEDARS to professors? Wow, I didn't know that. I appreciate your prayer and caring. I try to cling to the Lord, and I'm healthy spiritually, emotionally, and physically by your prayers. I'll pray for your spiritual and physical health, and classes. Do your classes start next week? You might be looking forward it.:) I know you are doing good and you will, but if you have any prayer request, just let me know. Have great days in Christ!! "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." Philippians 2:13
Love, Jiseon
p.s. I'm excited my Afghan friend (Razak) I met in Afghanistan during last summer mission trip and an exchage student (Jordan) from Cedarville Universty will stay Handong from this semester!! I hope you meet them and share our Lord, Jesus!
How exciting to see God so mightily at work everywhere!

What do you get when you put 4 Afghans, 1 Cambodian and 1 Canadian together? Well, in this case it was an enjoyable evening of pizza, fun and conversation. SeeYar, Daniel, Ahmad, Razak and Ezra. You guys crack me up! Let's do that again sometime soon. May God bless your stay here Ahmed and Razak-so good to have you here!!!

One of the main goals of this party was to welcome Ahmad and Razak to Handong with open arms. They are new freshmen from Afghanistan. It was so awesome to learn that Razak had met one of my favorite students, JiSeon (Heidi) in Afghanistan while she was there on a mission. It is amazing how God works out such things!

Miss No and Mr. Gu work on the first floor of the Main Administration Building of Handong and they are such a blessing to our university, helping out in so many things that must seem to go unnoticed to them. Mr. Gu, for example, put A LOT of work into the retreat. Thanks for all you do, Miss No and Mr. Gu!!!

One of the classes (50 students here) of some 700 plus freshmen taking the English placement exam at Handong, Thursday, March. 2nd from 10am-11:30. Believe it or not, I'm actually looking forward to starting classes next week, ha!ha!

Ephraim (who just graduated from HILS and is studying for the bar in July) and Anvar (Anvarjon Shomirzaev) on Anvar's last day at Handong University on Wednesday before heading back to Uzbekistan. We'll miss you Anvar! God bless and stay in touch!!!

The Doctrine of God - Primary Names of God

"And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and He said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." (Exodus 3:13-14)
There are three primary names of God: Elohim (God), Jehovah or Yahweh (usually printed as LORD in the KJV), and Adonai (Lord). Each of these names emphasizes a different aspect of the nature of God. The name Elohim occurs 31 times in Genesis 1, where it emphasizes His strength and creative power. The name Yahweh is most often used to express God's self-existence, particularly in relation to humanity. Adonai means "master" and underscores the authority of God.
Illustration: When Moses objected to returning to Egypt, one of his excuses was that he did not know God's name. By that he meant that he did not understand enough about God's authority. God solved this problem by revealing Himself as the "I AM", that is, Yahweh.
Application: Because God reveals Himself in His names, Christians should understand them to better serve Him.
