John Wesley's Two Questions

John Wesley used to ask his young men whom he had sent out to preach on probation two questions:
-"Has any one been converted?" and
-"Did any one get mad?"
If the answer was "No", he told them he did not think the Lord had called them to preach the Gospel, and sent them about their business. When the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, people are either converted or they don't like it, and get mad.

Jee Fun's Last Week in South Korea

What a beautiful bunch of people! Bill, Jee Fun, Ira Wheeler (one of our beloved deacons!), Mrs. Wheeler, Young-Jin (popular professor at a prestigious university in Seoul) & Mrs. Eom in front of "Bamboo Village", Sunday, Nov. 27th, 2005. Jee Fun, who works for DBS Bank (www.dbs.com) is heading back to Singapore on Friday. GOD BLESS, BRO!

Mr. and Mrs. Eom with Jee Fun Low! We had such a WONDERFUL time Sunday afternoon. So sad to see our brother head back to Singapore but at the same time we're so glad that he'll be reunited with his wife and children!

Some close ups of JeeFun and some of the incredible food we ate at "DaeNaMu Gol" (Bamboo Village). The Wheelers and Eoms invited a bunch of us out as a "goodbye love feast" for JeeFun who has been such a blessing to SIBC in the past 5 years. (and has lived in Korea 7 years!)

Mrs. Eom teaching Bill Morgan how to eat this special dish correctly. Mushy rice clumped in a wet leaf might not look so appetizing to the Western eye but boy was it delicious!!!

Can't even have a cup of coffee without politics! This cup says "Dokdo is our land!" ("Dokdo" is a disputed pile of rocks in the middle of the ocean that isn't much of an "island" that Koreans swear is theirs and the Japanese lay claim to them as well...)

The Doctrine of the Bible 9 - Lost Books

"His prayer also, and how God was entreated of him, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers." (2 Chronicles 33:19)

There are at least a dozen books cited in Scripture that are not part of our Bible, including the book of Jasher (Josh. 10:13; 2 Sam. 1:18); the Book of the Acts of Solomon (1 Kin. 11:41); the Prophecy of Abijah the Shilonite, the Visions of Iddo the Seer, the Book of Nathan the Prophet (9:29); the Book of Gad the Seer (1 Chr. 29:29); the Book of Shemaiah the Prophet (12:15); the Acts of Uzziah (26:22); the Sayings of the Seers (33:19); epistles of Paul to the Corinthians (1 Cor. 5:9) and the Leodiceans (Col. 4:16); the Book of Enoch (Jude 14); an epistle of John (3 John 9); and probably other accounts of Jesus' life (Luke 1:1,2). These are sometimes erroneously referred to as the "lost books of Scripture."
Illustration: There is no indication that any of these nonbiblical books were inspired. The doctrine of preservation argues that inspired books providentially survived, implying that the lost books were not inspired. They may have recorded interesting background to the inspired record of God, but they were not Scripture.
Application: Christians do not need to be concerned about missing portions of their Bible, since Scripture is complete with 66 books.
If God sends us on stony paths He will provide us with strong shoes. (Alexander Maclaren)
