Amen! John 3:16-17

Hebrews 10:25!

So true!

Amen, brother!

"Gloria, Gloria...I think they got your number, Gloria, that you've been living under...." (only those who appreciate 80s music have ANY clue of what I'm talking about!)

Wonderful time of good food and good fellowship

Check out that smorgasborg! (Gloria doing her best to serve others...)

Ephraim striking a cool pose. (Ephraim is studying law here at The Handong Law School.)

making strange faces while talking with Michelle....?

This is the standard Korean pose!

This is Daniel (English name...real name is Achmad) from Afghanistan. This is his 2nd semester here at Handong.

Eric threw a wonderful "thank you party" for all those special in his life at the end of last semester.

Hanging out with the boys!

Eric and Gang

Tonight (Saturday, April 2nd) I had Eric (great Christian brother and Handong international student from Cameroon), Christian (funny South African international student), Chrissy (cool Korean-Canadian student who just got her eyebrow pierced! ouch!) and Chrissy's friend, Becky (from NY) over for pizza and chit-chat. We have a great bunch of students here and that is one of the main reasons I love teaching at Handong Global University. I guess I should post a few pics that Eric was kind enough to send me a while back...
Here's the greatly appreciated letter he sent along which shows you what kind of a considerate guy he is!

Beloved Andy,

Here are the photos of my "Thank You" party last semester. Do you remember the party I organized at the end of last semester? I'm attaching herewith the photos of the party. Hope you'd like them.

It's too bad that we've been bosom brothers all this while yet we don't have any photos of each other. Hope we get some soon.

Well Andy, have a blessed week ahead and see ya some time!

Blessings and much love,Eric

Don't worry....he's harmless!

The fantastic "An sisters"!!! (From left to right: SoYeun, JeongYeun and JooYeun and...wait a minute! Is that Beckham?!) It is amazing how quickly and powerfully God has been working in their lives in such a relatively short time. All 3 sisters have accepted Christ as their Saviour!

"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." (Luke 10:2)

"Let the children come to me...." (Jesus) Mark 10:14

Rejoice or cry?

The numbers affected by the tsunami boggle the mind!

Letting their light shine before men! (Matthew 5:16)

Prayer shows dependence on God!

The Great Commission

Wanted to share another letter I got from Yong Shik while in Sri Lanka:

Hello !!
Teacher I appreciate your letter and love.
I visited srilanka as a member of sunlin hospital and handong university cooperation team for helping thunami refugee. Like your teaching Jesus gave me some kind of spiritual courage as a missionary. He saved me and is going to send my family to pakistan this july. From march 16th to june my family will be in singapore as missionary trainee.
Accompany with srilankan picture.
God bless you and all your lovely ones !
from yong sik chung

GOD IS GOOD!

Paul, Mrs. Lee (director of the Sunlin Medical Missionary Training Center) and me.

Paul (previously worked at Handong and just recently started an English teaching job in Kuwait), Yong Shik (who is on mission in Sri Lanka with family helping tsunami relief) and yours truly.

What a GREAT group of doctors and nurses dedicated to sharing the love of Christ!! (May I remember such people if I think about complaining about Korea...)

One of my favorite students, Seung-Eun, who is a real English wiz. She works with the dying.

It was nice having a few gents in the class as they tend to get the conversation going well and then the ladies don't feel so shy about speaking in English.

One of the head nurses telling us about how much she enjoyed the course.

Photos from the final class last semester. (December)

Busy, busy, busy...

They say that those who "do" don't have time to write about it. That seems to be so true of my life these days. God has me doing so many things, and so many good things, but I feel guilty sometimes about not writing more to family and friends.

Some of the things God has me involved in:
  • last night I finished my 2nd week of teaching at the "Sunlin Hospital Medical Missionary Training Center". It is my 3rd semester working (volunteer) there. Some of my previous students have gone on mission around the world since graduating from that course. Not long ago, one of my favorite students, Yong Sik, a surgeon, wrote me his 1st letter from Sri Lanka. He is there with his family helping out with the tsunami relief. Here is his encouraging letter:

In the name of Jesus Christ we met .
I am yong sik chung one of your bible class student at sunlin hospital.
Now it's time we have to say "see you ".
I know and really appreciate your devotion for all of us.
God was always with you and us during all the class.
And I advanced very much as you know
God choosed my family as a pakistan missionary.
I ,my wife eun young and two children are following the guidance of Holy Spirit.
You also showed us ' How to love'
I love you as a brother in Jesus Christ.

How humbling that God would use little, old me, even indirectly, through mission training in English to bear fruit in another Christian brother's life!!!

Anyway, I am focusing on listening and speaking this time. (It's a 10 week course.) I have shared with my students that 1 Peter 3:15 is at the heart of our goal.

"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect."

So many people head out on mission work and are not prepared to really share their faith or portions of scripture with those they come into contact with. Last night I prepared 32 typical ?s that one may ask them on the mission field. The goal was to steer the conversation towards matters of faith and the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Here are the questions we got through:

  • What must someone do to go to heaven?
  • Tell me a little about yourself
  • What do you think of Americans? (Was a little disappointed with the "anti Bush" answer my student gave. Told them to avoid politics and "country bashing" when on field!!!)
  • Is it true that Koreans eat dogs?
  • Do you think peace on earth will ever be possible?
  • How can we stop nations from fighting one another?
  • Do you think there is any way to overcome poverty in this world?
  • What is Korea like?

Last week we looked at the deep ? of why God has chosen THIS specific time and place for us to be born and live....After good discussion we looked at Acts 17:26-28:

From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. "For in Him we live and move and have our being." As some of your own poets have said, "We are His offspring."

Wow! I've written quite a bit just on the medical missionary training so I think I'll sign off here for now and attempt to add a few pics from the last class (December) with my previous group.
