The DYNAMITE of God
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18)
The Greek word for "power" used here is "dynamos", where we get our English word "dynamite". The message of the cross is that powerful. It is dynamite!
You see, the power (dynamite) of God does NOT consist of plastic explosives tied around some hateful, murdering individual's waist who has misguided, twisted notions of God and what He requires. The dynamite of God is the fact that Christ died on the cross for our sins (past, present and future) and accepts us (despite ourselves!) if only we would accept Him as Lord.

American Dreams

His American dream is beginning to seem
more and more like a nighmare with every passing day.

We used to say
"Whoever died with the most toys wins"
But if he loses his soul,
What has he gained in the end?

I'll take a shack on the rock
over a castle on the sand.
(lyrics from "American Dreams", sung by "Casting Crowns")
