Sundi Richard! Sundi is a middle school camp teacher and wife of Daniel, the camp director. I think it was during the summer camp of 2001 that I 1st met Sundi (I believe that was the 1st night her and Daniel met too!) in a bar in Jinju (during my "wilder days"). She is SO great with the kids. Her and Daniel are actually living in Prague and flew in just for this camp! (As Daniel has been Director on 2 previous camps, I believe.)

Soraya Hassim, another university camp teacher. The sad thing about there being so many teachers and being on such an intensive schedule is not being able to get to know all the wonderful people I work with a little more!

Nasra Adan, one of the elementary school camp teachers, with a beautiful smile!

Camp "Horrors"

It has been an interesting week. One thing that seems strange is how a lot of things worked out in a bizarre and unplanned way this week in the camp uni classes. On Tuesday, we watched "Six Sense" and discussed ghosts and such during "Movie Discussion Time" in the evening. On Wednesday, our class went to "The Ghost House" when on our field trip. On Thursday, we had "Halloween" as our "Cultural Experience time" (2 hours) and today is Friday the 13th. A couple of guys wrote similar things in their journals about this. (Students write for about 30 minutes 3-4 times a week in the evenings, we mark them and give them back to them in the morning). One wrote, "Today is 13th Friday. May be...Jason come to my dormitory...ha-ha". Funny to learn what students know sometimes. :-)

The Doctrine of God - Goodness of God

"And Jesus said unto him, "Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God." (Mark 10:18)
Only God is completely good is His nature and actions. His goodness includes all the positive moral attributes, such as grace, patience, and kindness.
Illustration: When the rich young ruler called Jesus "Good Master", Jesus reminded him that only God could be properly referred to as "good". The good that exists in the world around us truly reflects or expresses the goodness of God. (Gen. 1:10). There is no other source of true "good". When God revealed His names to Moses, He described Himself as being "abundant in goodness" (Ex. 34:6).
Application: The goodness of God is illustrated daily in our lives by the many good things that add comfort and enjoyment (James 1:17). Christians should be careful not to take these gifts for granted.

Gamma Gents: My students during week 3 of camp

Hyun-Ho-24-from ChangWon. He enjoys playing basketball. His motto: "If it's not fun, why do that?"

Chang-Yong-24-from Jinhae. He believes he "is a good student and a nice guy". He says he's been smoking for 12 years! (started at 12!?) He enjoys watching movies, singing and traveling. His motto: "If I strike study hard then I can receive anything."

Seong-Yun-26-from Jinju. He enjoys tuning up cars and listens to music (especially the Korean legend: Seo TaeJi). He went to China for 10 days a year ago. Seong-Yun may look familar if you've seen other entries as he was in my 1st week class. (but asked to move down a few levels). Poor Seong-Yun has ME as his teacher 2 out of 4 weeks! I'm glad to be with him again. His English and confidence have really come a long way! He changed his motto to: "Don't Worry, Be happy!"

Jae-Yun-21-from HapsungDong (my old neighborhood from 95-97!!!) in Masan. He enjoys Judo and has his black belt. Judging from his poster of "Go-stop" & "Hwatoo" (Korean card games) I am guessing that he enjoys cards too! :-) His motto: "Give and take."

Min-Soo-20-from Masan (my original Korean hometown!). He loves watching movies and dancing (but not at the same time, he tells me, ha!ha!). His motto: "Live a good life."

Ji-Ho-21 from Sachun (just outside Jinju). Ji-Ho is the class leader of Gamma class and he is a very comical guy. As you may have guessed, he enjoys telling jokes. His nickname is "WonBin" who is a famous Korean actor. His motto: "Knowledge is power."

Chang-Woo-21-from Pusan. He enjoys computer games, traveling, soccer and movies. He is the only camp student I've heard to proudly declare, "I love morning exercise!" His motto: "No pain, no gain."

Jae-Won-21-from Ulsan. He enjoys an unusual and relatively unknown Korean traditional martial art known as "Kyung Dang". He has an interesting story of actually having 2 names as his father payed a shaman for his name "Eui Ho" but his name (given my his grandfather) is actually "JaeWon". His motto: "Be flexible in life."

Sung-Rhual-20-from Jinju. His nickname is "insect" because he says he looks like one (a grasshopper to be exact). He enjoys collecting accessories such as earrings and necklaces. His motto: "Don't regret my decisions."

Hyeon-Su-20-from Daegu. He enjoys computer games and reading books. His motto: "Enjoy life!"

Chang-Wook-24-from ChangWon. Enjoys climbing mountains and playing soccer. It was interesting to find out that he has an identical twin as well! His motto: "I want to stop smoking!"

Ji-Heok-27-from Ulsan. Enjoys photography and traveling. He and his family own a pet squirrel. Motto: "If I give good things to others, other people give good things to me."

One of the "stained glass windows" of Gamma class.

One of the posters in Gamma class. All these camp students are dreaming of women as they study. Pretty funny and maybe the truth as I am teaching 12 men this week. Every time there's a chance, they BEG me to mix with other classes that have a high percentage of females...
