I'm so used to seeing plain signs in Korea lacking imagination such as "Korean restaurant" that I almost missed the language humor in this sign. It was good that "Friend Lee" (Friendly) named the family shop after his name rather than his less popular sister "UG...(get it..."Ug Lee"...Ugly....oh, forget it!)

Itaewon is definitely more "foreigner friendly" than many parts of Korea.

What are they implying exactly that is "better than beer"? Oh, yes, as their "vision statement" says on their website, www.beergirls.co.kr , they are a "family restaurant"...For many families in today's world-no doubt!

Bars, bars and more bars line the streets of Itaewon. You can see such posters in an attempt to get people in their bars all the time.

A good example of why it is important to know the difference between your "R"s and your "L"s....

"Where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell?...It cannot be bought with the gold of Ophir, with precious onyx or sapphires. Neither gold nor crystal can compare with it, nor can it be had for jewels of gold. Coral and jasper are not worthy of mention: the price of wisdom is beyond rubies." (Job 28:12-18) This shop in Itaewon, Seoul can't guarantee you'll feel any better but..."WELL, you'll BE supportING our shop!!!"

Well, Chuseok (a kind of "Korean Thanksgiving" is officially over....It was nice to have Monday off but tomorrow it's back to work!
