Talk about gorgeous flowers! These were given to Mr. and Mrs. Kim (Hyoam Restaurant owners/managers) by their generous son! May 8th was Parents Day in Korea.

Let's pray that the gospel gets out to North Korea!!! Saw this on the back of one of our students t-shirts while having lunch today. They have an international conference for North Korea every year. This was from the February 2005 conference held in Seoul.

Mike Stockton and his team sang "I'll Fly Away" as an opening song for chapel today. AWESOME!!

Su-Young on the spoon and pan, Eric on the harmonica, Vadim and Sung-Min on the washing boards and 2 other students on the "home-made-string-thing"!!! Yeehaa!! Did they ever have that chapel rocking!!!!

This a GREAT CD!!! (Thanks, Mom! You're the best!)

"I'll Fly Away"

I'll fly away, OH GLORY
I'll fly away,
When I die, HALLELUJAH
By and By, I'll fly away.
Some bright morning when this life is over,
I'll fly away.
To a land on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away.
When the shadows of this life have grown,
I'll fly away.
Like a bird from these prison walls,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, OH GLORY
I'll fly away,
When I die, HALLELUJAH
By and By, I'll fly away.
Oh how glad and happy when we meet,
I'll fly away.
No more cold iron shackles on my feet,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, OH GLORY
I'll fly away,
When I die, HALLELUJAH
By and By, I'll fly away.
Just a few more weary days and then,
I'll fly away.
To a land where joy will never end,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, OH GLORY
I'll fly away,
When I die, HALLELUJAH
By and By, I'll fly away.
"For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)

The Doctrine of Christ - Christ in the Sacrifices

"Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock." (Leviticus 1:2)
The sacrifice of Christ on Calvary is typologically portrayed in the five major sacrifices offered in the Old Testament. The whole burnt offering emphasizes Christ's offering of Himself without spot to God in complete obedience to the will of God. The meal offering (meat in the archaic sense: food) emphasizes the balance, fragrance, and purity of that life which was offered. The peace offering emphasizes the reconciliation that was accomplished on the Cross. The sin and trespass offerings emphasize the atoning nature of Christ's sacrifice, saving men from all sin-past, present, and future.
Application: As we think of the complete sacrifice of Christ for our sin, we are reminded of our responsibility to give ourselves as living sacrifices to God.

Afghan Believer

The trial of Abdul Rahman, a few weeks ago in Afghanistan, was very interesting. "How could someone dare to convert from Islam?", many Muslims wondered. Such people are labelled infidels and are often killed in MANY Islamic nations around the world. People in the West talk about "freedom of speech" and "freedom of religion" which the populations of these Islamic countries know absolutely nothing about. How did the Afghanistan court settle it? Simple-He must be crazy! Of course! That's it! The reason this topic comes to mind is that some friends who are secret missionaries in Afghanistan wrote the following segment in their newsletter:
Afghan believer
The trial of the Afghan believer at the end of March brought mixed blessings to this country. As regards politics, this country felt the weight of the rest of the world forcing it to do what the world wanted rather than be able to process the case on their own. This stirred up more anti-foreigner sentiments, which if you know the history of Afghanistan leads only to destructive actions. On the positive side of things, it exposed the reality that Afghans CAN be Christians, and that they actually exist. This has stirred up curiosity among the masses about what in the world this thing is called Christianity. On the negative side, the fact that he was given asylum made Christianity political, and for Afghan’s who might choose this religion would be tainted by political motives. We are under the impression that in order for true birth to take place here there must be death. Please pray that the Word would get out in this country.

Let's pray for Afghanistan indeed!
