Now London...Destruction Just a Breath Away?!
May God be with those people wounded and in pain/shock in London!
Unfortunately, for those who have died, it is too late to be praying for them as the Bible makes quite plain. (Hebrews 9:27, 2 Samuel 12:21-23)
Multiple explosions send confusion and fear throughout London.
One thing I appreciated as I watched the mayhem on the tube was the back of an ambulance that read, "It screams so you don't have to."
Reminded me of the evangelical gentleman I met while shopping downtown with Tim. That's why he's willing to make a fool of himself. That's the same reason Christians around the world are willing to "appear foolish" to the world to get the message of Christ out. We "scream" (preach/plead) so you don't have to ("in the lake of fire").
"But I believe", you might say. Yes, but "belief" is not just a mental acceptance but something that should result in a true desire to obey Christ. Those aren't my words but the Holy Scriptures. "He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus."(2 Thessalonians 1:8)...I'd like to end there but there's more to this sobering truth "They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of His power." (2 Thessalonians 1:9)
It's hard to know where to put your trust in such unsettling times.
Can you trust the governments? Many people around the world say "no".
Can you trust the media? Even more people around the world say "no".
So who can you trust?
Well, how about the One who created you, left heaven for your sake, died on a cross for your sins and rose again for confirmation that He was who He said He was?
That is definitely someone I am willing to trust.
The events going on in London brought a certain song to mind. I fished it out of my collection and will post now for your consideration:
"In the Kingdom"
by Whitecross (from the CD 'In the Kingdom')
Saw the headlines just the other day
Said the wall's comin' down
Said the peace is just a breath away
One world, one voice, one happy family
Yeah, that's what the world believes
I read my Bible just the other day
Said the Kingdom's comin' down
Jesus said the Kingdom's just a prayer away
One Lord, one God, one faith eternally
Yeah, that's what the church believes
(Chorus)
We're alive, we are strong
We're a nation, we belong
Let us all stand together in the Kingdom
No more darkness, no more night
We are children of the light
Let us all work together in the Kingdom
(Verse 2)
Heard a newsman just the other day
He said a war was comin' down
He said destruction was just a breath away
One world, one war, one awesome tragedy
Yeah, that's what the world believes
I heard a preacher just the other day
He said God's glory's comin' down
Just as the waters cover all the seas
One King, one crown, one reign forevermore
Yeah that's what we have and more
(Repeat Chorus)
