"Where were the Christian Lawyers?" (Francis Shaffer, 1990)
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. (Ezekiel 22:30)
No one calls for justice...Justice is driven back...The Lord looked and he was displeased that there was no justice...he was appalled that there was no one to intervene...(Isaiah 59:1-16)
Who-
...will stand up for the helpless, oppressed, victim?
...will help shape human rights law?
...will impact the values of the global business world?
...will be a peacemaker in conflicts great and small?
...will write the laws about human worth, bioengineering?
..will build foundations of moral principles for law?
...will draft the Constitutions for new free nations?
...will contend for integrity and servanthood in the legal profession?
"If not you...WHO?"

There are always interesting things happening around campus!

"See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of His holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against Him." (Jude 14-15)
Justice: God's Character, God's priority, God's Calling
Do not pervert justice or show partiality...Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the Lord your God has given you. (Deut. 16:18-20)
You oppress the righteous and take bribes, and you deprive the poor of justice in the courts...I hate, I despise your religious feasts; I cannot stand your assemblies...Away with the noise of your songs...But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream. (Amos 5:12-24)
No one calls for justice; Justice is driven back...The Lord looked and He was displeased that there was no justice...He was appalled that there was no one to intervene...(Isa. 59:1-16)
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of the destitute. (Proverbs 31:8)
Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly. (Leviticus 19:15)
What does the Lord require of you,
but to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly
before your God. (Micah 6:8)

"Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. Follow justice and justice alone, so that you may live and possess the land the LORD your God is giving you." (Deuteronomy 16:19-20)

Let Justice Roll!

Leader: Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue, so that you may live and occupy the land that the LORD your God is giving you. (Deuteronomy 16:20)
Men: You shall not deprive a resident alien or an orphan of justice; you shall not take a widow's garment in pledge. (Deuteronomy 24:17)
Women: For the word of the LORD is upright, and all His work is done in faithfulness. He loves rigthteousness and justice. (Psalm 33:4-5)
All: Depart from evil, and do good; so you shall abide forever. For the LORD loves justice; He will not forsake His faithful ones. (Psalm 37:27)
Leader: Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob...who keeps fatih forever; who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free; the LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous. The LORD watches over the strangers; He upholds the orphan and the widow, but the way of the wicked He brings to ruin. Praise the LORD! (Psalm 146:5-10)
Men: For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon His shoulders; and He is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His authority shall grow continually, and there shall be endless peace for the throne of David and His kingdom. He will establish and uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this onward and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this. (Isaiah 9:6-7)
Women: Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness abide in the fruitful field. The effect of righteousness will be peace...(Isaiah 32:16-17)
All: To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. (Proverbs 21:3)
Leader: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. (Matthew 23:23)
Students: Take away from me the noise of your songs; I will not listen to the melody of your harps. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. (Amos 5:23)
All: He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

Where are you?

True faith-trusting in God and His faithfulness according to His word despite the situation you may find yourself in...

"And this is His command: to believe in the name of His Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as He commanded us." (1 John 3:23)
