"Prayer is the most important thing in my life. If I should neglect prayer for a single day, I should lose a great deal of the fire of faith." (Martin Luther)

Christmas Dinner, Friday, December 2nd

Me and 3 of my lovely students; Byung-Ho, Kun-Joo (Paul) and Seong-Ji. All 3 are in my composition class and are also MKs (missionary kids). I praise God thinking of all the people that He has blessed me with knowing!

Byung-Ho, Andy, Paul, Seong-Ji, Gloria and the much loved "Hyoam-Am restaurant Ajuma" getting a last-minute-end-of-party-photo together!

Scott Lincoln and family enjoying the Christmas Dinner. Although I haven't spent much time with them, this is one of my favorite families on campus. They are really doing a wonderful job raising their precious daughter, Sarah, in "the fear of the Lord". Their godly joy can be seen even in a photo! Scott's Mom will be joining our staff next semester and we're all looking forward to meeting/working with her.

Another shot of the Duvernays (this time in front of the Christmas tree! :-)) Tom is one of the deacons at HIC (Handong International Church) which I had the pleasure of attending today. This really is a wonderful family and they have opened their hearts & home (in Kyung-Jew) to MANY students and staff for barbecues and parties!

So glad that I was finally able to meet Thomas Duvernay's family and get a chance to know them better! Tom, Moon-Oak and their son, Yohan. Yohan is a real genius and graduated way ahead of schedule. He is now studying for his Master's Degree in Semantics and he's only 18! Wow!

Some of the guys from the DLE (Department of Language and Education). Peter & Mark, where do you think you are going with those gifts?!

I LOVE this photo as it just screams out, "THE GUYS!!" (These 4 are the "faithful monks" who usually make the Saturday shopping runs at Walmart/Emart-Tim, Chris, Mark and Mike.) Got news that Mike Sandez will be leaving Handong at the end of this semester. His presence will truly be missed. Students at the law school (& Mike himself! :-)) broke down crying when they heard that he (one of their favorite instructors at the law school here) was leaving...

Peter, Joanna and me all set for an incredible evening of great food, fellowship, entertainment, Carols, sharing and prayer. Peter and Joanna will be returning to Thailand at the end of this semester. They will be greatly missed!

Not a good picture (as I still had the camera set on "Night Portrait"...) but this is Alex Bishop and his fiance who are to get married this February. Came as quite a surprise to all!!! (especially to the "monks of the DLE"!) Pastor Young-Ho, who broke the news at the party, stands behind ready to pray his blessings over them. CONGRATULATIONS, ALEX!

An out of focus attempt to get more of the whole scene.

Same scene-better lighting!

Seated, (L to R:Min Hwang, Pastor Hwang Young-Ho, President Kim, guest speaker, Brian Park & wife Bernie and Tom Duvernay) faculty enjoy the beautiful singing of the campus Missionary Kids. What a treat!

Peter Fama and his favorite "tie" (spelled "Thai" but same pronunciation, ha!ha!), Joanna getting warm by the fireplace!

The only Santa present during the Christmas party was our jolly university president, Kim Young-Gil, who opened the evening with a short welcoming speech and prayer. (And NO, his little round belly did not jiggle and shake like a bowl full of jelly!! ha!ha!)

MCs for the Christmas Dinner party: Gun-Joo (whose English name is Paul) and his friend, Gloria. This charming duet sang a beautiful rendition of "Merry Christmas to You" to start the evening off. You guys were great!

Part of the Program for the Christmas Dinner

Some of the MKs (Missionary Kids-that is, children of missionaries) putting up last minute decorations before guests arrive at the Christmas Dinner for faculty last Friday.

The Doctrine of God - Cosmological Argument for the Existence of God

"Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse." (Romans 1:20)

The argument from cause and effect is one logical argument for the existence of God. As everything that exists must have an adequate cause, so an all-powerful and intelligent God is an adequate cause to explain the universe. The Scripture identifies that "cause" as the creative power of God. (Gen. 1:1; Roman. 1:19-20)
