We All Have Something in Common?!

The warm-up spiritual question for today's classes was:
What do all people (who have ever lived) have in common?
Some of my clever students answers:
All people...
-have a mind.
-need to go to the toilet! (That's true!)
-have free will.
-are made in the image of God. (Amen! Genesis 1:27)
-have a name.
-need to work.
-have organs.
-have a plan which God has made for them.
-have feelings.
-are sinners.
-have a past.
-have a religous mind.
-think about their experiences.
-want to be happy.
-get older as time goes by.
-have their own thoughts and conversation tools.
-love children.
-have a body, mind and spirit.
-are sociable in some way with others.
-have to sleep.
-don't want to die.
-want to be loved by someone.
-have scars in their minds.
-have their own will and purpose.
-have a fear to die.
-were born to make a relationship with God.

I always love seeing what's "rattling around in my students' minds"!
After they wrote their answers on the board, we looked at the following verse:

Of course, like I reminded my students, there was ONE man who was without sin... "Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me?" (Jesus in John 8:46) "...who was tempted in every way (speaking of Jesus), just as we are-yet was without sin." (Hebrews 4:15) "How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!" (Hebrews 9:14) "

Man? Prophet? Son of God? God?

The 1st half of this week's "spiritual ? warmup" was:
REACT:
Jesus was a good man-Yes.
Jesus was a holy prophet-Maybe.
Jesus was "The Son of God"-Questionable.
Jesus, however, was certainly not God.
As in each class, the students got together with a new partner and discussed this for 1-2 minutes. Random students were then asked to share their opinions (after the volunteers) while going through the attendance.
The fact is that Jesus was/is all 4: man, prophet (one who speaks God's words), Son of God and God. We then looked at the following verse:

One of the titles of God (and Jesus) is "The Word" or "The Word of God". As we see in verse 1, (and in many other passages of the Bible...), Jesus created all things and was indeed God. It is important to notice the lack of an article (definite or indefinite) before the last mention of "God" in verse 1. The reason I point this out is that the Mormons change the entire word of God by adding an "a" before God. This is clearly not the meaning from the original Greek and does not mesh with the rest of scripture. Such as Isaiah 43:10 "Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.", Isaiah 44:8 "Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one." and 1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God an one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." as a few passing examples. There is indeed ONE God and Jesus Christ came to show us what God is like!!!

The plaque they put over the "time capsule" which was buried during last semester's Mission Festival. Notice the stress on the Word of God! (I think writing "to 2015.5.11" is with the intention of saying "May God graciously grant us another 10 years of success!" as Handong is 10 years old.)

Eric and his good friend, Bonnie, who met on a Christian singles network on-line. Bonnie is visiting Korea for the 1st time and will be with us till next Wednesday. So nice to finally meet you, Bonnie! Enjoy your stay!

Bonnie, Eric, Ji-Hwan and Andy after lunch Sept. 16th. (Construction in the background is for the additional 3rd floor they are adding to Hyoam Restaurant/Chapel Annex.)
